DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES
(FULL TIME)
First United Methodist Church of Madisonville, Kentucky, a dynamic, missional 1000-member congregation, seeks a faithful professional for the position of Director of Children’s Ministries. This is a full-time, salaried ministry position that is designed to implement the mission of First United Methodist Church by coordinating the planning and implementation of a comprehensive children’s ministry for the congregation and community. The Director of Children’s Ministries will oversee all aspects of ministry with children from birth to 5th grade.

The qualified candidate should have degree from an accredited college or university and/or equivalent experience. The candidate should also have a vital relationship with Jesus Christ with experience in administration, teaching, and communication with children and families. Candidates should be self-motivated, creative, a team-player, and a team builder with organizational and leadership skills.

JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Children’s Ministries guides children from birth through 5th grade to have an authentic and growing Christian faith. Through the implementation of developmentally appropriate ministries, outreach events, and programs, the Director of Children’s Ministries will walk alongside of children of families in the church and children of families in the community to invite them to a relationship with Jesus Christ, encourage spiritual development and growth, and foster a connection to the larger church.
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Exempt
SALARY RANGE: $40,000-$42,000 depending on experience and education.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The Director of Children’s Ministries reports directly to the Associate Pastor for Student Ministries. The Director of Children’s Ministries oversees one part-time position: Nursery Worker.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Sunday leadership: regular leadership presence during the 9:00am (Blended, More Traditional), and 11:00am (Blended, More Contemporary) Worship services, and the 5 pm Bilingual service.

Oversight of all discipleship ministries with children on Sundays for Sunday School and Children’s Church and on Wednesday evenings throughout the school year.

Coordinate major children’s ministry events throughout the year (i.e. Vacation Bible School)

Recruit, train, and spiritually develop children’s ministry volunteers

Administrative tasks including budgeting and communication for children’s ministry

Work closely with other Pastors and faith formation staff to support collaboration and the overall mission of the church

Active involvement in the community and with partnership schools to reach new families.

Utilize events and programs as a means for outreach to the community.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and/or equivalent experience.

Experience in ministry with children.

Ability to work in a cross-cultural and multilingual setting.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
(PART TIME)
The Administrative Assistant is a key player in the staff team at Madisonville First United Methodist Church, a dynamic and missional church at center of our community. The Administrative Assistant performs reception, office, and administrative support tasks to the pastors, church staff & congregation to further the church’s mission.
Job Duties:

Greeting guests to the church office, answering the phone, responding to the door bell, answering emails, and providing general reception services.

Collecting and Recording attendance for worship, Sunday School, and Wednesday Night Alive

Weekly production of the church bulletin
-
Updating membership and database records
-
Order materials for office, pastors, staff, and classes as needed
-
Interface with individuals requesting assistance or in need of help, and those volunteers helping to provide that assistance
-
Provide general assistance to pastors and church staff in completing administrative tasks, making phone calls, sending correspondence, and general communication.

Help in design, publication, mailing and communication of various print and digital media and communication.

Prepare financial receipts and documents

Other Duties as Assigned

Anticipated Hours: Part Time (30 hours/week)
Mon-Fri 8am-2pm or Mon-Thu 8am-3:30pm
Pay: Hourly; $14-$15/hour based on experience/education

MUSIC ASSOCIATE

Job Summary: The Music Associate will be a key player in First United Methodist Church’s music ministry. The Music Associate will support and assist the Director of Music Ministries in adult choir rehearsal and worship services, by competency as an accompanist, vocalist, and leader.
Job Duties:
-Attend weekly sanctuary choir rehearsals, offering support to the Director of Music Ministries vocally and as an accompanist on piano and/or organ as needed.
-Offer vocal and instrumental musical leadership during worship services under the direction of the Director of Music Ministries.
-Work with the Director of Music Ministries to recruit, train, and rehearse members of the Sanctuary Choir and instrumental ensembles.
-Be an active part of the First United Methodist Church worshipping community, and engaged in the life of the whole church
-Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Education or equivalent experience in music education
Strong vocal capabilities
Ability to play piano and/or organ
A committed follower of Jesus Christ
Anticipated Hours: Part-time (anticipated up to 10 hours/week)
Sunday mornings; Wednesday evenings
Flexible preparation time
Pay: Hourly; competitive rate negotiated based on education/experience
