CHURCH ADMINISTRATOR

JOB SUMMARY
The Church Administrator leads the work of coordination and communication of First United Methodist Church’s office.  The Church Administrator is responsible for the efficient running of the administrative ministries of the church, including the work of the office, facilities, and kitchen.   The Church Administrator maintains a professional relationship with the pastors, staff, congregation, and community that supports the church’s mission and identity. 

 

JOB TYPE: Full-Time Hourly, Non-Exempt

SALARY RANGE: $16-$18/hour depending on experience and education

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong management and leadership skills

  • Proficient at Microsoft Office

  • Good Communication and coordination skills

  • Experience working in an office environment, related experience in a church or nonprofit setting preferred. 

  • Ability to keep confidences

  • Ability to work well with a multicultural community.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus, but not required.

  • High School Diploma required, College Degree preferred.

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Church administrator will lead, manage and supervise the work of church office.

  • Supervise Facilities Supervisor and communicate facilities needs

  • Supervise Director of Kitchen Ministries 

  • Assist pastoral staff as requested with administrative duties, including a weekly pastoral care sheet and notifying them of any critical issues.

  • Maintain the church calendar and scheduling of facilities and vehicles.

  • Ensure office equipment is maintained and in working order

  • Send text and email notices for church meetings, keeping an updated list of officers

  • Respond to emails and phone calls as appropriate

  • Schedule and create staff meeting agendas

  • Order all church office supplies

  • Respond to various ministries and groups using the church building to address needs

  • Manage the Administrative Ministries budget

  • Provide support to volunteers working in outreach to individuals

  • Planning and logistics for the Wednesday Night Alive program

  • Organize staff events, celebrations, and meals

  • Provide general reception including door bell, telephone, and greeting office guests.

  • Keep the Servant Keeper database updated with correct information and also the church membership roll.  Provide support for the databases with the church staff.

  • Prepare reports including offering reports, Charge Conference, and End-of-Year.

  • Prepare, record, and communicate weekly attendance for worship, Sunday School, and Wednesday Night Alive.

  • Work well with the whole church staff and be a key player in the staff team to accomplish the church’s mission and vision.

  • Other duties as assigned.

DIRECTOR OF MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS

JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Media & Communications extends the mission of Christ through First United Methodist Church through leading ministries related to digital and print media.  These key ministries include livestream production, video production, marketing, graphic design, and print media production. 

 

JOB TYPE: Full-Time Hourly, Non-Exempt

SALARY RANGE: $16-$18/hour depending on experience and education

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with graphic design

  • Familiarity with media-related technology including video, photography, website platforms and social media.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Produce and coordinate the weekly livestream of the three Sunday worship services

  • Management and content production for digital communication platforms, including website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, radio, and podcasts.

  • Graphic Design to support worship series, digital & print communications.

  • Produce and publish print media including weekly bulletin and occasional booklets and/or promotional materials for Wednesday Night Alive and special events. 

  • Recruit, Train, Coordinate, and Support volunteer teams to support the media production.

  • Ensure that church communication, media, and marketing are consistent, faithful, and meet high quality standards.

  • Produce videos to support worship and communications.

  • Staying current on media and communications trends, showing initiative in proposing and implementing changes and new media. 

  • Creating and sending communications to the congregation and community, including e-newsletters, announcement slides, and print materials.

  • Maintenance and development of the church website.

  • Work well in cooperation with the pastors and other church staff to support and communicate the overall vision and mission of the church.

  • Attend staff and worship planning meetings as an integral part of the team.

  • Work closely with the Associate Pastor for Online Community on shared ministry areas including video production, volunteer engagement, website, and media for the online community

  • Other duties as assigned.

FACILITIES SUPERVISOR

First United Methodist Church of Madisonville, Kentucky, a dynamic, missional 1000-member congregation, seeks an experienced and faithful individual for the position of Facilities Supervisor.  This is a full-time, salaried ministry position that is designed to implement the mission of the church by promoting the upkeep, safety, functionality, and maintenance of the facilities at Madisonville First United Methodist Church.

 

JOB SUMMARY
The Facilities Supervisor is responsible is for the safety, function, cleanliness, and maintenance of the church buildings and properties.  The Facilities Supervisor supervises maintenance and custodial staff and works with outside vendors and contractors to accomplish this goal.  The Facilities Supervisor works with the church staff, board of trustees, and congregation to have the church buildings and properties in good working in order to accomplish the church’s mission.

PAY RANGE: negotiable based on experience and skills   

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Performing, assigning, or contracting all maintenance work at the church buildings, vehicles, and grounds. 

  • Obtaining pricing and approval for any work to be done by outside contractors or vendors, and supervising said work to make sure it is accomplished.

  • Supervising and scheduling maintenance and custodial staff.

  • Ensuring the church and properties are clean and well maintained.

  • Proposing and working within an annual facilities budget.

  • Attend staff meetings, board of trustees meetings, and other meetings as determined by supervisor.

  • Performing maintenance work on the building that lies within the supervisor’s skill set.

  • Ensuring that rooms and facilities are appropriately set up for all events and activities

  • Calling attention to major maintenance needs to be considered by the board of trustees

  • Ordering cleaning and maintenance supplies

  • Assuring compliance with all local, state, and federal requirements for the facilities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

  • Experience in a related field

  • Technical skills helpful in the maintenance of a large facility such as HVAC, elecrtrical, plumbing, and mechanical. 

  • Understanding of terminology related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Skills in time management, money management, and relationships with people. 

  • Appropriate respect and willingness to work in a Christian setting.

  • Willingness to work in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual setting.

  • Ability to pass a background check, drug test, and to complete Safe Sanctuaries Training

PRESCHOOL TEACHER

First United Methodist Church Preschool of Madisonville, Kentucky, a high-quality early childhood education center that serves up to 83 students, seeks experienced individuals for Preschool Teacher positions. These are full-time, hourly positions that work in our full-day preschool program serving families with children in classes from infant to PreK.    

The qualified candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent experience in the field of early childhood education or prior employment in a childcare center is preferred. The candidate should also have the ability to lead, teach, and care for young children in a high-quality preschool program. Candidates should be self-motivated, creative, a team-player, and a team builder with organizational skills.

JOB POSITION – Preschool Teacher (Full Time; Hourly)

 

JOB SUMMARY
A preschool teacher nurtures and teaches children in our preschool. Their duties include overseeing and supporting the children's cognitive, physical, and spiritual development, upholding the preschool's standards and safety protocols, and showing dedication to continuous professional growth. Educators should have the ability to observe, evaluate, analyze, and record children's progress and conduct, communicate this information effectively to families, and utilize it to design suitable developmental activities and experiences.

JOB TYPE: Full-Time

PAY RANGE: Starting at $13 an hour

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
Preschool Teachers work directly with students in the preschool classroom. This position reports to the Head of School.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Managing activities like lessons, playtime, breaks, and meals while maintaining a clean and organized classroom.

  • Develop, prepare, and implement lessons that target various aspects of child development, including language, motor skills, and social abilities. Offer children tools and resources for exploration. 

  • Adjust teaching techniques and materials to match the interests and learning preferences of each child. Engage with children both in group settings and individually based on their needs and the subject matter.

  • Support children in achieving developmental milestones. Monitor each child's progress to enhance their social skills and boost self-confidence. Foster interactions among children and assist in conflict resolution.

  • Regularly communicate with parents to learn about the children's backgrounds and provide reports and feedback on their performance and behavior.

  • Attend to children's basic needs by organizing nap and snack times, overseeing their safety, and maintaining order in the classroom.

  • Commit to continuing professional development in early childhood education and care 

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred from an accredited college or university but not required.

  • Experience working in a early childhood education setting preferred but not required.

  • Prior employment in a childcare setting is a plus but not required.

  • Willingness to work in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual setting. (ability to speak another language other than English is a plus but not required)

  • Ability to pass a background check and to complete Safe Sanctuaries Training
